Eating Disorders with Medical Complexity
Eating disorders carry the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric diagnosis and present profound medical complexity in the home setting. Malnutrition, electrolyte instability, cardiac arrhythmia, and organ compromise require skilled clinical monitoring and careful, coordinated management. Legacy Concierge provides RN-directed care delivered with the discretion, sensitivity, and clinical expertise this population demands.

Our nurses provide the precise medical monitoring and coordinated clinical support that eating disorders with medical complexity require — stabilizing physical health while working within the parameters of the broader treatment team.
Cardiac Monitoring & Rhythm Assessment
Consistent assessment of heart rate, blood pressure, and cardiac rhythm — addressing the bradycardia, hypotension, and arrhythmia that represent the most serious and time-sensitive medical consequences of eating disorders.
Electrolyte Status Monitoring & Physician Coordination
Regular evaluation of electrolyte balance with direct coordination with treating physicians — managing the hypokalemia and related imbalances that carry significant cardiac risk in this population.
Nutritional Intake Monitoring & Refeeding Support
Careful monitoring of nutritional intake alongside clinical refeeding protocol support — managing the precise caloric advancement and electrolyte oversight required to prevent refeeding syndrome during nutritional rehabilitation.
Medication Management & Comorbidity Oversight
Comprehensive management of psychiatric and medical medications alongside clinical attention to the anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive presentations that frequently co-occur with eating disorders.

Understanding the Condition
Eating disorders are simultaneously psychiatric and medical emergencies. These are the clinical realities that make skilled, sensitive home-based oversight essential during stabilization and recovery.

What our nurses watch for
Medical instability in eating disorders can develop rapidly and with little warning. Our nurses monitor for cardiac changes including bradycardia and arrhythmia, signs of electrolyte imbalance, indicators of refeeding syndrome during nutritional rehabilitation, and functional decline that signals medical deterioration requiring escalation. We maintain close communication with the eating disorder treatment team and approach every aspect of care with the clinical sensitivity and non-judgmental presence this population requires. Families shouldn't have to wonder whether something is normal. That's what we're here for.
