Liver disease complications can develop and escalate rapidly. Our nurses monitor for early signs of hepatic encephalopathy including subtle personality changes, confusion, and altered sleep patterns that families may initially attribute to other causes. We watch for rapid abdominal distension indicating fluid accumulation, signs of gastrointestinal bleeding, jaundice progression, and medication toxicity driven by impaired hepatic clearance.
